Egypt's Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly held a high-level meeting on Tuesday to review progress in developing the country's agricultural fertiliser industry and the associated trading system, the Cabinet said. The prime minister said the meeting reflects the continuous focus by state bodies on vital industrial sectors, including the fertiliser industry, which plays a key role in meeting local demand amid expanding agriculture across Egypt. He highlighted the incentives available to support and attract investment in the fertiliser sector. Increasing production will meet local needs and improve agricultural productivity, contributing to Egypt's food security goals. Surplus fertilisers could also be exported to new international markets. Prime Minister Madbouly underscored the importance of continuously developing the fertiliser industry to keep pace with global advancements in modern agricultural methods and technologies, which require specialised, advanced fertilisers. This approach supports increased production and promotes sustainable agricultural practices. The prime minister stressed the importance of continuing governance reforms of the fertiliser trading system, expanding the digitalisation of related services, and ongoing cleansing of agricultural records to eliminate fictitious landholdings.
