Egypt's Deputy Minister of Health and Population Mohamed El Tayeb has met with UNFPA Representative in Egypt Yves Sassenrath to discuss enhancing cooperation on human development and advancing joint efforts under the presidential initiative Bedaya for Egypt. The meeting focused on aligning the initiative with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and Egypt's Vision 2030. El Tayeb reaffirmed Egypt's commitment to the National Programme for Human Development 2024–2030 and praised UNFPA's role in supporting Egypt's development plans. Discussions covered technical support mechanisms offered by UNFPA, including developing monitoring and evaluation systems, holding training workshops, and capacity building to improve institutional performance. The two sides also addressed preparations for Egypt's participation in the Global Congress on Population, Health and Development (PHDC25) and agreed to organise joint sessions to measure human development indicators and set up a follow-up framework for the presidential initiative. They called for drafting a joint roadmap for the coming phase, emphasising Egypt's openness to collaborate with UN agencies to achieve sustainable development and social well-being.
