Egypt's Central Laboratory for Organic Agriculture, affiliated with the Ministry of Agriculture, signed a cooperation protocol on Saturday with the Egyptian Centre of Organic Agriculture (ECOA), aiming to strengthen national efforts in promoting organic farming and building a comprehensive sector-wide database. Under the protocol, the two sides will coordinate on inspection, registration, and the issuance of compliance certificates for organic farms and products, ensuring alignment with recognised organic production standards through approved documentation for registration procedures. The cooperation also involves regular data sharing on certified organic farms to continuously update the Organic Agriculture Department's central database. This is expected to establish a verified registry of organic farms and products, enhancing Egypt's position as a future regional leader in organic agriculture. Additionally, the two organisations will jointly organise a series of intensive workshops and training sessions to build capacity among farmers and agricultural engineers.
