Egypt has screened 2,050,314 students for Hepatitis C out of a total target of 2,232,682 for the 2024/2025 academic year as part of efforts to eliminate the virus, according to an official statement on Thursday. The screenings were conducted using rapid diagnostic tests by the General Authority for Health Insurance, the statement added. Students who tested positive were referred to one of 24 liver committees affiliated with the authority's branches across governorates nationwide, where they underwent further specialised tests and diagnostics.
