Suez Canal Authority Chairman Osama Rabie reaffirmed the Canal's pivotal role in sustaining global supply chains, according to an official statement. Marking the 69th anniversary of its nationalisation, Rabie stressed that the Canal operates in accordance with international charters and treaties governing safe navigation, without compromising Egypt's sovereignty over the waterway. Rabie noted that the Canal's operations have remained firmly governed and well-structured since Egypt assumed its administration in 1956. The Navigation Regulations govern activities and are consistent with the 1888 Constantinople Convention, which guarantees freedom of navigation for all vessels passing through the Canal. He highlighted the Egyptian administration's success in maintaining the Canal's global standing through continuous development of the waterway, ensuring it remains the shortest, fastest, and safest maritime route. Rabie also paid tribute to the national figures and pioneer generation who led the nationalisation process and contributed to the Canal's advancement over the years.
