Egypt's Cabinet Media Centre on Monday dismissed social media reports of insulin shortages at health insurance hospitals, saying supplies remain stable and the strategic stockpile is sufficient for the coming months. In a statement, the centre confirmed insulin is "readily available" across hospitals nationwide, with no disruptions reported. It added that the strategic reserve of the life-saving drug is secure and capable of meeting demand for several months. The Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA) is conducting regular reviews of pharmaceutical supplies—including insulin alternatives and generics—to ensure availability and avert any future shortages, the statement added. Authorities also urged citizens to report any supply issues immediately. The Ministry of Health can be reached via hotline 105, and the Egyptian Drug Authority through 15301, or patients may contact their local health directorates.
