Egypt's Agriculture Minister Alaa Farouk received on Thursday a labour delegation from the South African Society of Bank Officials (SASBO) to explore opportunities for joint cooperation, the Cabinet said in a statement. Farouk affirmed the strength of the historical relations between the two countries, especially in agriculture and related sectors. He emphasised Egypt's keenness to provide technical support and share its agricultural expertise, in line with President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's directives to enhance collaboration with African nations. He noted that Egypt's agricultural sector has witnessed a comprehensive revival in recent years, supported by major national projects across the country, aimed at achieving sustainable agricultural development. The government also continues to finance small farmers and support SMEs in agriculture and related activities. Farouk also highlighted the Egyptian International Centre for Agriculture (EICA) as a training hub open to young African talents and discussed potential collaboration with the Agricultural Bank of Egypt to support rural development and agricultural investment in Africa. The South African delegation requested Egypt's support in establishing a pan-African union for workers in banking and financial services, as a means of fostering broader cooperation across the continent.
