Egypt's Agricultural Research Centre (ARC) signed a cooperation protocol on Sunday with the Arab Centre for the Studies of Arid Zones and Dry Lands (ACSAD) to improve agricultural productivity and climate resilience using advanced technologies, the Cabinet said in a statement. The agreement will focus on developing climate-resilient wheat strains tolerant to salinity and heat, as well as improving the drought and salinity resistance of lentils and chickpeas through the use of nanotechnology. Agriculture Minister Alaa Farouk said the partnership is key to bolstering food security and sustainable agricultural development, stressing that research-based collaboration would help farmers adopt more resilient and sustainable practices, in line with Egypt's Vision 2030. ACSAD Director-General Naser Eddin Al Obaid welcomed the expanded cooperation, highlighting its importance in enhancing agricultural adaptation to climate change and delivering tangible benefits to both farmers and the wider economy.
