Egypt's Internal Trade Development Authority (ITDA), affiliated with the Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade, has launched an online service to update and verify tax registration numbers within the commercial registry, as part of the national digital transformation strategy. The service is available through the ITDA portal and allows businesses to confirm their tax number electronically. Since its launch, the system has received nearly 600 requests, with same-day data review and client notifications in case of errors. The move aims to ease procedures for registry clients and enhance tax compliance. Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Sherif Farouk has instructed to continue development of registry offices across Egypt to improve service quality. He also urged all businesses to promptly register their tax numbers, which are now a required part of commercial registry data. Separately, the Ministry, in coordination with the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI), has launched an online service for booking and issuing the Non-Confusion Certificate for trade names, a key part of electronic company registration. Six new services have also been added to the Digital Egypt platform, raising the total to 20 digital registry services. The Ministry is working with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) to transition all commercial registry services to digital platforms, using electronic signatures and a digital commercial register. A secret delivery code has also been introduced to strengthen security for online service requests. Attribution: Amwal Al Ghad English Subediting: M. S. Salama
