Egypt's drive to digitise public services is gaining momentum, with more than 40 per cent of commercial registry applications now submitted through the Digital Egypt Platform, the country's Internal Trade Development Authority (ITDA) said Thursday. In partnership with the Ministry of Communications, the Ministry of Supply has rolled out 20 commercial registry services online, including requests for official extracts, data certificates, and registration amendments. The move is part of a broader national strategy to streamline government operations and support Egypt's Vision 2030 goals. "This marks a major leap in modernising commercial registry services," the ministry said in a statement. "Citizens and businesses can now apply, track and receive documents without visiting registry offices." The Digital Egypt Platform allows users to follow the status of their applications in real time. Once processed, a QR code is sent to the applicant's phone for fast in-office pickup, or documents can be delivered via express mail. Authorities say the transition has reduced congestion in registry offices, improved service accuracy, and minimised human error — key metrics as Egypt positions itself as a more investment-friendly economy. The government says over 8 million citizens are now registered on the Digital Egypt Platform, which hosts nearly 200 services across 16 service bundles, ranging from civil records to licensing. The push is part of Egypt's digital transformation agenda aimed at enhancing state efficiency, attracting investment, and improving the business climate through better public service delivery.
