Chinese Premier Li Qiang on Wednesday expressed his country's firm support for Arab nations in bolstering strategic independence, unity, and self-reliance. During talks with Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit in Cairo, Li said China consistently approaches its relations with Arab states from a strategic perspective and strongly backs their just causes. He stressed that under the guidance of President Xi Jinping and Arab leaders, China-Arab ties have entered their best historical phase. The premier called for greater coordination with the Arab League, deepening mutual trust, and enhancing cooperation across multiple sectors to build a higher-level China-Arab community with a shared future. He also urged closer synergy between China's development strategies and those of Arab states, particularly through high-quality Belt and Road cooperation. Li proposed expanding cooperation in energy, trade, investment, finance, aerospace, and emerging fields such as new energy, artificial intelligence, the digital economy, and the blue economy. He pledged Chinese support for flagship and grassroots projects benefiting people on both sides. He also called for enhanced cultural dialogue and youth, academic, and tourism exchanges to strengthen people-to-people ties. Li reaffirmed China's willingness to boost coordination with Arab countries through multilateral forums such as the UN, the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, the WTO, and the G20 to promote a fairer global governance system. Aboul Gheit hailed China as a trusted partner and voiced strong Arab support for the One China principle, the Belt and Road Initiative, and other Chinese global initiatives. He welcomed deeper ties and reiterated Arab readiness to jointly ensure the success of the second China-Arab summit next year. Attribution: Amwal Al Ghad English Subediting: M. S. Salama
