Egypt's Cabinet on Wednesday observed a moment of silence in memory of the victims of a deadly road accident on the Regional Ring Road and a fire that broke out at the Ramses Telephone Exchange building. Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly led the tribute at the start of the weekly Cabinet meeting, offering condolences to the families of the victims and wishing a speedy recovery to the injured. The government said it stands in solidarity with the affected families and is following up on investigations and response measures related to both incidents. Earlier the day, Prime Minister Madbouly visited the Ramses Exchange to inspect the ongoing maintenance and restoration work following the fire, which erupted early Tuesday at the state-run building operated by Telecom Egypt and caused significant damage to the telecommunications hub. The government praised emergency teams for their swift response in containing the blaze and minimising its impact on services. The prime minister returned to Cairo late Tuesday from Brazil, where he represented President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi at the 17th BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro. Attribution: Amwal Al Ghad English
