Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met on Tuesday with Alexey Likhachev, Director General of State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom, to discuss the next steps in the construction of Egypt's Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant. The meeting, held in New Alamein, was part of Likhachev's official visit to Egypt, during which he and Egypt's Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy would sign a supplementary intergovernmental agreement for the plant's construction, including its physical protection systems. Additionally, Andrey Petrov, First Deputy Director General for Nuclear Power at Rosatom and President of AtomStroyExport (ASE), Russia's nuclear construction arm, would also sign with the the chairman of Egypt's Nuclear Power Plants Authority a supplementary contract detailing the plant's construction, design, procurement, and implementation phases. The talks also focused on the progress of the Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant, which is intended for civilian use, and reviewed all related technical details of the project.
