Egypt's Minister of International Cooperation Rania Al-Mashat honoured Alessandro Fracasseti, the outgoing UNDP Resident Representative in Egypt, in appreciation of the efforts he made throughout his stay in Egypt, the Cabinet reported on Monday. Al-Mashat also confirmed the continuation of constructive cooperation between the Ministry and the UNDP during the next phase, in light of the Egyptian state's priorities and its vision for comprehensive and sustainable development. She extended her appreciation to Fracasseti for his efforts over the years in advancing strategic cooperation between Egypt and the UNDP across a range of priority development areas under the Egypt–UN Partnership Framework. She highlighted the significant progress made in joint efforts to support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in public policy innovation, governance, institutional capacity-building, and sustainable financing. This included support for internal governance and audit units to improve government performance and transparency, as well as technical assistance to enhance private sector engagement in national development plans. The minister also noted UNDP's role in advancing Egypt's digital transformation and modern public policy frameworks. She cited the launch of the country's first Integrated National Financing Framework for SDGs, supported through the UN Joint SDG Fund and in collaboration with the UN Resident Coordinator's Office in Cairo. Additionally, the partnership contributed to key initiatives such as the localisation of SDGs, the development of a unified monitoring and evaluation manual, and the promotion of results-based management across government institutions. Fracasseti expressed gratitude to Al-Mashat for their productive collaboration over the years and praised their ongoing coordination in support of Egypt's development agenda, according to the report.
