Egypt's unemployment reached its lowest level in a decade, falling to 6.6 per cent in 2024 from 13 per cent in 2014, reflecting improved labour market performance amid national projects and employment programmes, the CAPMAS said on Sunday. The number of unemployed persons decreased to 2.1 million persons in 2024, representing 6.6 per cent of the total labour force of 32 million persons, down from 3.6 million persons unemployed and 13 per cent of the labour force in 2014. Meanwhile, the employment increased to 29.9 million workers in 2024, compared with 24.3 million in 2014.
