Egypt's Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk has stressed the importance of connecting BRICS with neighbouring countries through cross-border projects, according to a ministry's statement. NDB could help bridge development financing gaps among member states, Kouchouk said in a meeting with Maxim Oreshkin, Deputy Head of the Russian Presidential Commission for Economic Relations with BRICS Countries on the sidelines of the BRICS meetings 2025, in Brazil. Kouchouk discussed expanding joint financing for infrastructure and energy projects, along with coordination on multilateral development policies, as stated in the ministry's announcement. He underlined the need to maximise the use of sovereign wealth funds and development bank resources to support economic and social growth in emerging markets. The new BRICS investment platform, he noted, is a key opportunity to align national development plans with regional cooperation initiatives. Kouchouk also pointed to the potential for advancing Egyptian-Russian projects under the new investment platform, proposing bilateral investment initiatives under the BRICS. He added that Egypt is focused on deepening economic, financial, trade, and investment ties with Russia. Attribution: Amwal Al Ghad English Subediting: M. S. Salama
