South Korea's seasonally adjusted S&P Global Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) rose to 48.7 in June from 47.7 in May, indicating the softest deterioration in the manufacturing sector's health in three months, according to survey data. The June survey showed a fourth consecutive monthly decline in production volumes, although the pace of reduction was marginal and the slowest in the current downtrend, the statement added. Some manufacturers linked output declines to falling sales, while others reported positive trends in the domestic market. A number of firms drew on existing finished goods inventories, leading to a modest depletion of stock levels. New order intakes continued to fall for the third month, reflecting weak client confidence, particularly from international markets affected by higher tariffs. Export sales also declined for the third consecutive month. Attribution: Amwal Al Ghad English Subediting: M. S. Salama Download
