The Egyptian-Czech Joint Economic Committee held a meeting on Tuesday in Prague, co-chaired by Egypt's Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Hassan El-Khatib and Czech Minister of Industry and Trade Lukas Valticek. These included efforts to boost bilateral trade volumes by intensifying trade activities and enhancing participation in trade fairs in both countries to promote their national products. The ministers praised the direct EgyptAir flight between Egypt and the Czech Republic as a vital link supporting economic growth, trade, investment, and tourism. They also committed to continued collaboration in environment and water management through efficient resource use and exchange of expertise in modern water treatment systems. Cooperation extended to agriculture and smart farming, focusing on the exchange of agricultural goods, livestock development, and phytosanitary expertise. Both sides explored opportunities in renewable energy and green hydrogen, leveraging their accumulated knowledge in these emerging fields. In mining and mineral resources, plans were made to utilise Czech technology for mineral exploration. The committee emphasised support for small and medium enterprises and startups through sharing best practices, developing business incubators, and expanding industrial zones. They also aimed to enhance economic development and productivity by facilitating technology transfer and vocational training cooperation. In tourism, both countries pledged to increase tourist flows via joint participation in tourism fairs and information exchange. Cooperation in ICT and innovation was strengthened, particularly in artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, research and development, and support for startup incubators. Lastly, the ministers encouraged Czech investment in Egypt, targeting African and Arab markets, leveraging Egypt's strategic location and its trade agreements that provide customs exemptions.
