Egypt's Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly inaugurated the first BSH factory in Egypt and Africa with a 50 per cent local component expected to exceed 70 per cent within two years, as per a Cabinet statement. Madbouly said the factory is the result of sustained government efforts, with daily follow-up and full backing from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to revitalise Egypt's industrial sector. He noted that BSH's facility is the third large-scale investment in home appliance manufacturing in Egypt, following similar launches by Chinese firm Haier and Turkish brand Beko, as stated in the statement. Madbouly highlighted the government's strategy of direct land allocation, golden licences, and investment facilitation to position Egypt as a regional base for manufacturing. The BSH plant will manufacture 350,000 cookers annually, with 50 per cent of production intended for export. The Prime Minister also revealed that BSH is studying the addition of new product lines beyond cookers to strengthen Egypt's role as a regional centre for its operations, according to the announcement. It is worth mentioning that the factory employs 1,000 Egyptians trained to international standards. BSH operates in 39 countries, and Egypt is the latest addition to its global footprint, with more factories planned. Attribution: Amwal Al Ghad English
