Egypt's Ministry of Education and Technical Education signed an MoU with El Sewedy Electric Foundation on Tuesday to manage and operate new Centres of Competence (CoC) in the fields of renewable energy and energy efficiency, the Cabinet said in a statement on Wednesday. The initiative, funded by Germany's KfW Development Bank and the European Union (EU), is part of the Technical Education for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (TEREEE) project. TEREEE project supports Egypt's national efforts to enhance vocational education, build technical capacity, and better align skills with labour market needs. The project will establish three new CoCs and upgrade 18 existing technical schools. Deputy Minister Ayman Bahaa El-Din emphasised the ministry's focus on technical education to support Egypt's clean energy transition and the need for a skilled workforce to operate modern technologies.
