Egypt's Minister of Environment Yasmine Fouad inaugurated on Tuesday the development project of Gharqana village in Nabq Nature Reserve, South Sinai, as part of the Green Sharm Initiative, implemented in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The launch ceremony was attended by UNDP Resident Representative Alessandro Fracassetti, along with officials and civil society representatives. Fouad described the project as a key outcome of the Green Sharm Initiative, which aims to transform Sharm El-Sheikh into a national and international model for sustainable tourism. The initiative reflects Egypt's commitment to sustainable development, environmental justice, and inclusive community engagement. She added that the village was developed using environmentally friendly architectural techniques and sustainable construction methods that respect the cultural identity of the local Bedouin community.
