Egypt's Sisi rurges localisation of renewable energy industries
Published in Amwal Al Ghad on 12 - 06 - 2025

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Tuesday met with senior officials to review progress on the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy's action plan, with a particular focus on the energy mix, the use of renewable energy, battery storage, and efforts to improve energy efficiency, conservation, and the economic operation of power plants to reduce fuel consumption.
Discussions also covered the enhancement of the national electricity grid through interconnection projects and upgrades to the transmission network to integrate new capacities. The president reviewed initiatives to improve electricity distribution and reduce energy loss.
Sisi also examined efforts to localise the manufacturing of electricity and renewable energy equipment. This includes coordination with leading global companies involved in the production of battery storage systems and wind turbines to establish local manufacturing in Egypt.
He stressed the need to intensify government efforts to attract investment in the renewable energy sector and ensure the sustainability of electricity supply to the national grid, as well as to industrial and service sectors. He also called for accelerated implementation of ongoing projects to improve the overall energy system.
The president directed continued efforts to improve electricity services across all governorates and to enhance the national grid's capacity to meet rising consumption through the regular upgrading of power stations, transmission and distribution networks, and control centres. He underlined the importance of increasing the efficiency of renewable energy use and advancing the localisation of industries linked to renewable energy projects.
