Egypt's Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly held a meeting on Monday to follow up on efforts to resolve financial entanglements between various government bodies, as part of Egypt's ongoing economic and structural reform agenda, the Cabinet said. The meeting was attended by Electricity Minister Mahmoud Esmat, Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk, Housing Minister Sherif El Sherbiny, and other senior officials from the Ministries of Finance, Electricity, and Housing. Madbouly reiterated the government's commitment to implementing necessary measures to untangle financial obligations among state entities. These steps aim to address long-standing distortions that have hindered service improvement across key sectors. The meeting reviewed the outstanding debts owed to electricity companies by various ministries and public bodies. Discussions focused on mechanisms for settling these dues and potential financial arrangements to facilitate debt clearance. The goal is to enhance the financial capabilities of the affected sectors, enabling them to improve operational efficiency and service quality through better financial management, the Cabinet's statement said.
