Egypt's manufacturing and extractive industries index, excluding crude oil and petroleum products, fell by 2.7 per cent in April 2025 to 116.18, down from 119.44 in March, according to CAPMAS report obtained by Amwal Al Ghad English on Sunday. The agency noted that the index methodology has been updated using 2012/2013 as the base year, in line with ISIC Rev.4 industrial classification, and relies on monthly producer price indices since January 2020. Industries with increased output: * Beverage manufacturing rose by 8.38 per cent to 435.31 in April, up from 401.66 in March, driven by preparations for the summer season. * Furniture manufacturing climbed by 5.16 per cent to 188.13, compared to 178.90 a month earlier, reflecting higher consumer demand. Industries with decreased output: * Tobacco products dropped by 5.04 per cent to 112.85, down from 118.84 in March, attributed to weaker demand. * Ready-made garments fell by 4.67 per cent to 234.15, compared to 245.61, as working hours declined during the holiday season.
