Egypt has built up its strategic reserves of essential food commodities to their highest levels in years, with stocks sufficient for more than six months, Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly said on Wednesday. Speaking at a press conference, Prime Minister Madbouly said the government had proactively worked to boost supplies of key goods, including domestic wheat, amid global uncertainties. "We have reached the safest levels of strategic reserves the country has ever achieved," he said. "All our essential goods are covered well beyond six months, and we continue to work on strengthening this position." The prime minister emphasised that the reserves covered all core subsidised goods needed by the state. He reassured citizens that food security remains a top priority.
