China's service trade continued to post strong growth during the first four months of 2025, with total imports and exports surpassing 2.63 trillion yuan (around $366.1 billion), up 8.2 per cent year on year, according to Chinese Ambassador to Cairo Liao Liqiang. In a Facebook post, Ambassador Liao said tourism-related service trade in particular showed strong momentum, reaching 756.78 billion yuan, a 14.7 per cent increase compared with the same period last year, marking a key milestone in the country's service trade performance. Exports of knowledge-intensive services totalled 590.24 billion yuan, up 6.1 per cent, while imports reached 426.12 billion yuan, an increase of 4.6 per cent. This resulted in a surplus of 164.12 billion yuan, up by 15.26 billion yuan year on year, reflecting the growing competitiveness of China's high-value-added service exports. Amid globalisation, the continuous expansion of China's service trade has not only supported high-quality development of its domestic economy, but also contributed to the recovery of the global economy.
