Indian delegation in Egypt for diplomatic, counterterrorism talks
Published in Amwal Al Ghad on 02 - 06 - 2025

A high-level multi-party delegation from India began an official visit to Egypt on Monday, aiming to bolster bilateral and multilateral ties and reaffirm India's stance against terrorism, according to a statement by the Indian Embassy in Cairo.
Led by Supriya Sule, Member of Parliament and Working President of the Nationalist Congress Party, the delegation includes lawmakers from across India's political spectrum, including representatives from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Indian National Congress, Telugu Desam Party, and Aam Aadmi Party. Former Indian UN envoy Syed Akbaruddin is also part of the delegation.
The three-day visit, which runs through June 4, includes meetings with senior officials from Egypt's Senate and House of Representatives, as well as Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Atty. The delegation will also hold talks with Secretary-General of the League of Arab States Ahmed Aboul Gheit and members of the Egyptian Council for Foreign Affairs (ECFA).
The programme features symbolic events such as a floral tribute at the bust of Mahatma Gandhi in El-Horreya Park and a visit to the Heliopolis War Memorial. Delegates will also meet members of the Indian community, media figures, and Egyptian intellectuals.
The visit comes as part of India's wider outreach to deepen cooperation with Egypt and the Arab world on security, counterterrorism, and shared global priorities, the statement said.
