Egypt has achieved 91 per cent self sufficiency in medicines, supported by a solid industrial base developed in recent years. The country currently has more than 179 pharmaceutical factories, including 11 with international accreditation. In addition, there are 150 factories dedicated to medical supplies, five specialised in producing raw materials, four focused on biological products, and over 986 production lines for medicines.
