Egypt's Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi inaugurated the main natural gas station operated by Taqa Gas in New Valley Governorate. The station supplies Kharga city through a permanent pressure regulating facility, a vehicle fuelling station, and a conversion centre for vehicles to run on natural gas. The main station has a capacity of 2,500 standard cubic metres per hour, with potential expansion to 5,000 standard cubic metres per hour. A total of 270,000 metres of medium- and low-pressure pipelines have already been installed and are operational. In the first phase, 5,750 households have been connected, with 8,300 more targeted in the second phase. Six municipal bakeries have been converted to natural gas in the initial phase, with 24 more planned. Additionally, 409 vehicles have already been converted to run on natural gas.
