Egypt is positioning itself as a regional centre for advanced automotive manufacturing by fostering innovation and sustainable investment, Investment and Foreign Trade Minister Hassan El-Khatib said Wednesday. Speaking at the launch of the locally assembled Jetour X70, Minister El-Khatib described the event as a milestone for Egypt's industrial ambitions and a reflection of successful cooperation with China's Jetour Global. "The local production of the Jetour X70 highlights Egypt's potential to become a hub for the automotive industry, supported by a skilled workforce and a favourable investment environment," the Egyptian minister said. He cited several recent national initiatives aimed at boosting the sector, including the Supreme Council for Automotive Industry, the Environmentally Friendly Automotive Industry Fund, and the National Automotive Industry Development Programme (AIDP). The AIDP is designed to increase local content, encourage exports, and provide structured incentives through a dedicated digital platform. Minister El-Khatib added that the Jetour assembly project underscores international confidence in Egypt's industrial capabilities, while contributing to technology transfer, job creation, and enhanced competitiveness.
