Egypt is developing a new export system modelled on logistics service centres used for imports, as part of efforts to create an integrated, internationally aligned export framework, the finance and investment ministries said in a joint statement on Sunday. The initiative aims to simplify export procedures, enhance logistics efficiency, and strengthen the global competitiveness of Egyptian products. It comes alongside an increase in export support allocations to 45 billion Egyptian pounds in the current fiscal year's budget. Finance Minister Ahmed Kojak and Investment and Foreign Trade Minister Hassan El-Khatib said the plan includes setting up advanced inspection and examination units at export yards to improve operational efficiency. The new units will be environmentally friendly and expandable to handle higher export volumes. Export procedures will also be re-engineered electronically to accelerate document processing and lower costs, with greater use of artificial intelligence to modernise customs operations, the ministers said. They added that Egypt's Nafeza Platform, which connects more than 130 customs sites and 35 government agencies, will play a key role in facilitating trade flows under the new export framework.
