Egypt's Education Development Fund (EDF) on Thursday signed a cooperation protocol with the Electronics Research Institute (ERI), as part of the state's strategic direction to enhance technological education and localise digital knowledge. Egypt's Education Development Fund (EDF) signed a cooperation protocol on Thursday with the Electronics Research Institute (ERI) to boost technological education and localise digital knowledge, in line with the government's strategic push to modernise the sector. The agreement aims to train a new generation of highly skilled Egyptian professionals to meet both domestic and international labour market demands, the Cabinet said in a statement. "This partnership marks a significant step towards supporting technical education and integrating students and graduates into the innovation and tech entrepreneurship ecosystem," said Rasha Sharaf, EDF's secretary-general. The protocol includes training programmes for technical workers in advanced technology fields, funding for student projects, and support for start-ups. Selected ventures will be hosted at the Science and Technology City, the EDF stated. Experts from ERI will also help develop curricula for Egypt-Japan KOSEN colleges, particularly in areas such as green energy and microelectronics, the fund added. Sharaf noted that the agreement will allow KOSEN students to use ERI's scientific labs for hands-on training and lays the groundwork for future collaboration in education and research.
