Egypt's National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) launched the country's National IPv6 Strategy at the IPv6 Enhanced and Future Network Summit, aiming to futureproof its digital infrastructure and support next-generation technologies. The strategy aims to achieve over 80 per cent national IPv6 adoption by 2030, with full readiness among internet service providers by 2026, ensuring both public and private infrastructure are fully prepared to support the new protocol within three years. Launched in collaboration with the IPv6 Forum, the Arab ICT Organisation (AICTO), and the IPv6 Arab Enhanced Council, the summit brought together regional and international stakeholders, technology experts, and telecom providers. The shift to IPv6 is expected to enhance Egypt's digital transformation by enabling advanced services such as 5G, the Internet of Things, smart homes, and wearables, while also improving network performance and user experience.
