The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) closed lower on Wednesday, with the benchmark EGX30 index shedding 1.38 per cent, ending the day at 31,840.44 points. The EGX33 Shariah index also saw a decline, falling 1.12 per cent to 3,301.08 points. Meanwhile, the EGX70 index, which tracks small and mid-sized companies, dropped by 0.87 per cent to 9,482.25 points. The broader EGX100 index experienced a dip of 1.05 per cent, closing at 12,850.47 points. In terms of market capitalisation, the total reached 2.26 trillion Egyptian pounds. Foreign investors outside of the Arab world were net sellers, offloading a total of 649.79 million pounds. On the other hand, both Egyptian and Arab investors were net buyers, with inflows of 425.39 million pounds and 224.40 million pounds, respectively. Top gainers 1. Shares of El Kahera Housing soared by 11.20 per cent, to close at the price of 2.780 Egyptian pounds a share. 2. Shares of Upper Egypt Flour Mills climbed by 5.94 per cent, to trade at the price of 298.590 Egyptian pounds a share. 3. Shares of General Silos & Storage jumped by 5.80 per cent, to the purchasing price of 181.930 Egyptian pounds a share. Top losers 1. Shares of Ismailia Misr Poultry plunged by 8.18 per cent, to close at 11.000 Egyptian pounds a share. 2. Shares of Egyptian for Tourism Resorts dived by 6.36 per cent, to close at the price of 9.720 Egyptian pounds a share. 3.
