Egypt's Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathy met with his Turkish counterpart Mehmet Nuri Ersoy and discussed enhancing cooperation in tourism and antiquities to attract more visitors, as per a Cabinet statement. The meeting occurred during the Turkish Minister's official visit to Egypt for the fourth ministerial meeting of tourism ministers of the D-8 Organisation for Economic Cooperation, hosted by Egypt in Cairo. The meeting began with both parties reaffirming the strong bilateral relations between Egypt and Türkiye and their mutual desire to broaden cooperation across various sectors, particularly tourism and antiquities. Fathy expressed hope that Erosy and his delegation would enjoy visiting the touristic and archaeological sites featured in the itinerary organised by the Egyptian General Authority for Tourism Activation alongside the ministerial meetings. Both sides discussed the possibility of organising a joint workshop in Egypt soon to bring together private tourism sector representatives from Egypt and Türkiye to enhance tourism flows and promote joint investment opportunities. The discussions also highlighted the North Coast, specifically New Alamein City, as a promising tourist destination in Egypt.
