Egypt's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigration said Tuesday it is closely following the situation of the vessel Petro 1, stranded off the UAE coast with seven Egyptians and other nationalities on board. The Egyptian embassy in Abu Dhabi and the consulate in Dubai urgently contacted Emirati authorities after receiving information this morning about the vessel in UAE territorial waters, the ministry said in a statement. Egyptian missions coordinated with Emirati authorities, who dispatched a UAE Coast Guard boat to monitor the vessel, check the crew's safety, and ensure supplies were available. The consulate sent representatives to Sharjah Port to follow up, while consular officials phoned the crew to check on their wellbeing. The ministry said it continues to monitor the vessel's legal status with UAE authorities to safeguard the crew's rights and safety. It also expressed deep appreciation to the UAE for its swift actions to protect the crew.
