S. Africa posts R13.1b budget deficit in March

South Africa recorded a budget deficit of 13.11 billion rand ($704 million) in March, according to data released by the National Treasury on Wednesday. This marks a sharp reversal from the 3.36 billion rand surplus registered in the same month last year.
The latest figures highlight continued fiscal pressure as the government grapples with sluggish economic growth and rising expenditure.
