Germany's annual inflation rate rose to 2.1 per cent in April 2025, up from 2.0 per cent in March, driven largely by underlying price pressures, according to preliminary data from the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) on Wednesday. Consumer prices rose by 0.4 per cent compared to March 2025. Core inflation, which excludes volatile items such as food and energy, stood at 2.9 per cent in April, highlighting persistent price increases in other sectors of the economy. The headline figure reflects the year-on-year change in the consumer price index (CPI). Final inflation data will be published later in May. Attribution: Amwal Al Ghad English Subediting: Y.Yasser
