Egypt's Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Sherif Farouk met on Sunday with executives from Orascom Construction to review progress on a major logistics warehouse project in Fayoum. The project, deemed a national priority, will serve Fayoum and several other governorates in Upper Egypt. It is a key part of the country's broader efforts to bolster food security and modernise strategic storage infrastructure. Minister Farouk emphasised the government's commitment to removing obstacles and fast-tracking the project to ensure it meets global standards and is completed on schedule, according to a statement issued Sunday. The meeting, attended by Orascom Construction CEO Osama Bishai and senior officials from both the company and the Ministry, also explored expanding partnerships beyond the warehouse project. Discussions included potential collaboration on upgrading Egypt's oil and sugar factories and expanding grain storage capacities for the General Authority for Supply Commodities (GASC). PPP: Key to Egypt's Future Projects Minister Farouk stressed that the public-private partnership model is critical to the success of Egypt's national projects, highlighting Orascom's involvement as a reflection of mutual trust and the state's focus on developing world-class infrastructure to safeguard strategic commodity supplies. "We are closely monitoring every stage of the project to ensure swift, high-quality completion, aligned with Egypt's vision for enhanced food security," Minister Farouk said. Bishai, in turn, reaffirmed Orascom's commitment to delivering the project within the agreed quality and timeline, praising the Ministry's support and facilitation efforts.
