India's annual wholesale inflation based on the Wholesale Price Index (WPI) stood at 2.05 per cent in March 2025, up from -0.19 in March 2024. The positive inflation rate was mainly driven by higher prices in the manufacture of food products, other manufacturing, food articles, electricity, and manufacture of textiles. The WPI index for all commodities was 154.5 in March 2025. Primary Articles stood at 184.6 with an inflation rate of 0.76 per cent. Fuel and Power was at 152.4 with an inflation rate of 0.20 per cent. Manufactured Products registered an index of 144.4 and an inflation rate of 3.07 per cent. The Food Index was 188.8 with an inflation rate of 4.66 per cent. Monthly rates The month-on-month (MoM) change in WPI for all commodities in March 2025 was 0.19 per cent. Primary Articles declined by 1.07 per cent, Fuel and Power by 0.91 per cent, and the Food Index by 0.11 per cent. Manufactured Products increased by 0.42 per cent. The final WPI for January 2025 stood at 155.0 with an inflation rate of 2.51 per cent. The WPI for March 2025 was compiled at a weighted response rate of 82.7 per cent.
