Egypt's Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Hassan El-Khatib met with Tushar Chhabra head of acquisitions at Sterlite Power to discuss cooperation on green hydrogen projects in Egypt, as per the ministry's statement. El-Khatib expressed his appreciation for the growing energy relations between Egypt and India, stating that collaboration with Sterlite Power marks a significant step towards advancing renewable energy projects in Egypt. The Egyptian government is strongly committed to developing green hydrogen projects and providing an attractive investment environment for global companies in this sector, he affirmed. Moreover, he praised India's expertise in power transmission, highlighting that partnering with Sterlite Power would enhance Egypt's capacity to efficiently execute renewable energy infrastructure projects. El-Khatib also highlighted Egypt's substantial potential in clean energy production, positioning it as a regional energy hub, particularly given the increasing global focus on sustainable energy sources. The proposed project, with an estimated investment of $5-6 billion, aims to strengthen Egypt's power transmission infrastructure and support its transition towards clean energy, he clarified. However, he added that strengthening cooperation with Indian companies in the renewable energy sector opens new investment opportunities, creates jobs, and promotes sustainable development. For his part, Chhabra expressed optimism about future collaboration with Egypt, confirming Sterlite Power's readiness to invest in long-term strategic projects to support Egypt's transformation into a key renewable energy hub. He stated that Egypt represents a promising market for expanding the company's investments in renewable energy, especially given the government's strong support for green hydrogen projects. Chhabra added that Sterlite Power, with its global expertise in power transmission networks, aims to introduce cutting-edge technologies to ensure the efficiency and sustainability of the proposed project in Egypt.
