Germany's industrial production rose 2.0 per cent in January 2025 from the previous month but declined 1.6 per cent year-on-year, data from Destatis showed on Monday. The rebound was led by a 6.4 per cent surge in automotive production, alongside gains in the food industry and machine maintenance and assembly. However, output in fabricated metal products fell 7.7 per cent, weighing on overall growth. Production in energy-intensive industries increased 3.4 per cent month-on-month and rose 2.1 per cent from January 2024. Meanwhile, construction output edged up 0.4 per cent, while energy production dipped 0.5 per cent. The less volatile three-month comparison showed that industrial output from November 2024 to January 2025 remained flat compared to the previous three months.
