Egypt's Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar met with the Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation Rania El-Mashat, to discuss the investment plan for the healthcare sector for the 2025/2026 fiscal year. The discussions align with national efforts to achieve sustainable development goals and enhance Egypt's healthcare system, according to a Cabinet statement published on Wednesday. The meeting focused on securing funding for priority healthcare projects. Investments will be allocated to training and capacity-building programmes for medical professionals to improve the efficiency and quality of healthcare services. The plan also aims to enhance key health indicators and provide advanced medical services, particularly for the most vulnerable populations, said the spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population Hossam Abdel Ghaffar. Abdel Ghaffar stated that the investment plan involves enhancing health infrastructure by building new facilities, upgrading existing medical centres, and completing the Universal Health Insurance scheme. The plan also includes improving the ambulance fleet for faster emergency response, aiming to enhance healthcare and readiness for future needs, according to the Cabinet's statement. The meeting underscored the government's commitment to prioritising public health as a fundamental pillar of its strategy for building a more productive and prosperous society, the spokesperson added. This commitment includes modernising hospitals, providing state-of-the-art medical equipment, and enhancing the quality of healthcare services to ensure accessible and sustainable healthcare for all citizens. The meeting confirmed the government's dedication to supporting the health sector as a strategic investment in the country's future. It emphasised the need for all stakeholders to realise the political leadership's vision of ensuring a good quality of life for all Egyptians.
