Egypt's Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly met with Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation Rania Al-Mashat to review several key government initiatives, focusing on economic planning, structural reforms, and international cooperation. Advancing Egypt's Economic and Social Development Plan During the meeting, Minister Al-Mashat outlined the main pillars of the 2025/2026 Economic and Social Development Plan, which aligns with Egypt's Vision 2030 and the State Ownership Policy Document to expand private sector involvement. The plan prioritises investments in education, health, and scientific research, while also reinforcing food and energy security. Additionally, it continues the implementation of the Hayah Karima (Decent Life) rural development initiative, with a strong focus on industrial growth. Boosting Economic Growth and Structural Reforms As part of efforts to enhance economic competitiveness, the minister highlighted the national economic development narrative, which aims to drive sustainable growth and increase exports. Four roundtable discussions will be held with government entities to ensure broad engagement. At the same time, Egypt is implementing 114 structural reform measures to improve macroeconomic stability, attract private investment, and support the transition to a green economy. Strengthening EU Partnership and Supporting Business Climate On the international front, Egypt is working closely with the European Union to define key economic priorities, particularly in trade, investment, and human capital development. A key milestone in this partnership is the activation of the €1.8 billion investment guarantee mechanism, designed to encourage European investments in Egypt. Meanwhile, efforts to support entrepreneurship are progressing, with initiatives to simplify start-up registration and enhance access to financing. Enhancing Governance and Preparing for the 2027 Census To improve government performance, Egypt is rolling out a results-based planning system under the General Planning Law. The "Ada'" national monitoring tool has also been introduced to track institutional performance and assess progress on Vision 2030 goals. Additionally, preparations are underway for the 2027 General Census, which will follow international standards to ensure comprehensive and accurate data collection. Through these initiatives, Egypt continues to advance its economic development agenda, strengthening governance, attracting investment, and promoting long-term growth.
