Trade between Egypt and Serbia has seen substantial growth recently, jumping from $94 million in 2022 to approximately $300 million in 2024, according to Egypt's Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, Alaa Farouk. Egyptian exports to Serbia reached about $72 million, while Serbian exports to Egypt totaled around $41 million. The services sector, primarily tourism, contributed approximately $180 million to the overall trade volume. Speaking at Serbia's National and Armed Forces Day celebration on Tuesday, Minister Farouk highlighted ongoing cooperation between the two countries, including the launch of agricultural tractor manufacturing in Serbia by an Egyptian company in partnership with Serbian investors. He emphasized Egypt's potential as a gateway for Serbian products to African markets through the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Agreement. Conversely, he expressed hope that Serbia would become a hub for distributing Egyptian agricultural products to Eastern European countries, leveraging the existing free trade agreement. Minister Farouk also extended an invitation to Serbian investors to explore opportunities in Egypt, citing the country's favorable investment climate and incentives designed to encourage foreign private sector participation.
