Egypt's Environment Minister, Yasmine Fouad, who doubles as Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Centre for Environment and Development for the Arab Region and Europe (CEDARE), held a meeting with the centre's new Executive Director, Khaled Fahmy, to discuss the future work plan. The meeting covered key topics approved by CEDARE's Board of Trustees and emphasised the need to modernise strategies. Fouad highlighted urgent issues such as climate change, the role of the private sector in environmental and climate projects, and the importance of investing in natural reserves. She also emphasised the need to integrate water management with agricultural adaptation and advance Egypt's circular economy agenda. Fouad reiterated Egypt's aim to finalise the National Circular Economy Strategy by June, in collaboration with GIZ and with technical support from CEDARE. She also stressed the urgency of addressing plastic pollution and securing an international legally binding agreement (INC) on plastic pollution by mid-year. Additionally, Fahmy presented a proposed work plan, which included strategies to attract investors, secure funding, and prepare for the upcoming Board of Trustees meeting.
