Egypt's Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Hassan El Khatib met with representatives of an international industrial alliance to explore investment opportunities in environmental technologies and industrial wastewater treatment. The alliance — which includes Mawared Industries, Ferropro, ISPC, Bosla, and German firm BAMAG — is also eyeing expansion into African markets through Egypt. El Khatib affirmed the government's strong commitment to attracting high-value investments in strategic sectors, particularly water and green industry. He highlighted Egypt's potential as a regional launchpad into Africa, thanks to its robust infrastructure, strategic location, and wide network of trade agreements. The minister stressed the importance of partnering with global entities that possess advanced technologies, especially in industrial wastewater treatment, reuse systems, and recycling innovations. Managing Director of German firm BAMAG Mansour Iskander showcased projects underway with Egyptian companies in the petrochemical sector. BAMAG is a firm specialised in industrial wastewater treatment. These include a wastewater treatment plant developed in partnership with San Misr, with investments exceeding €15 million, supported by European sustainability funds. Iskander noted that BAMAG is leveraging EU financing—particularly from the European Investment Bank (EIB)—dedicated to climate action and pollution reduction projects in Egypt. He emphasised the promising prospects this creates for Egyptian firms aiming to meet future European environmental standards. The meeting also explored opportunities for technology transfer and local industry development in support of Egypt's goals for water security and sustainable growth.
