Egypt's Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, Hassan El-Khatib, took part in a roundtable at the Spanish Chamber of Commerce with 13 major Spanish companies to explore cooperation opportunities, the Egyptian cabinet reported on Tuesday. The meeting, attended by senior Spanish officials, included companies from sectors such as transport, infrastructure, water desalination, engineering, aviation, and airport management. Minister El-Khatib highlighted Spain's importance as a strategic partner for Egypt, especially given the current global challenges, emphasising Egypt's interest in leveraging Spanish expertise and technology in water desalination, an area that is a key priority for the country. The minister also pointed out numerous investment opportunities in Egypt, particularly in airport development, healthcare, and renewable energy, with a special focus on wind turbine and solar panel manufacturing projects. The Spanish side acknowledged Egypt's strategic importance and expressed strong interest in increasing investment in Egypt, citing the many opportunities that could bolster trade relations between the two countries. A Spanish transport company expressed interest in managing railway lines in Egypt, while a leading airport management firm explored investment opportunities in the country's airport sector.
