Published in Amwal Al Ghad on 05 - 06 - 2013

Vodafone Qatar's revenues increased to QR1.53bn ($420m) for the year ended March 31, 2013, witnessing an impressive revenue growth of 25 percent (year-on-year), a press statement said yesterday.
The company registered 30 percent growth in the number of subscribers over the last year to 1.08 million mobile customers with 31.8 percent market share in Qatar's telecom industry at March 31, 2013.
Vodafone Qatar's full year revenue market share closed at 27.4 percent and achieved 30.4 percent by the end of the final quarter an increase of 5.9ppt over last year.
Average revenue per user (ARPU) improved eight percent to QR121 for the year ended March 31.
EBITDA margin improved 7ppts to 19 percent with earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) for the full financial year ending at QR284m, a 97 percent improvement over last year.
The outgoing CEO of Vodafone Qatar, Richard Daly, said: "We continued to deliver strong growth in our third full year of operations with strong revenue growth of 25 percent over the year to reach QR1.5bn driven primarily from the mobile business. As a result, our share of the mobile revenue in Qatar grew to 27.4 percent for the year, up from 24.5 percent last year.
"This growth provided a strong foundation for improving our profitability this year. This has led to an improvement in our EBITDA margin of seven percentage points over the year to reach 19 percent. In turn this has enabled us to achieve the very important milestone of our first full year of positive Distributable Profit of QR2m."
Vodafone, which owns 23 percent of Vodafone Qatar, in November extended a contract to manage its Qatari affiliate until 2018.
