The Egyptian Prime Minister, Moustafa Madbouly, discussed increasing the number of hotel rooms in the country with a group of tourism investors on Tuesday. The meeting took place at the headquarters of the Egyptian cabinet in New Alamein. Madbouly said the government is committed to supporting the tourism sector and it is working to provide the necessary services to attract more tourists to the country. He also highlighted that the government is looking forward to hearing new ideas from investors. Investors introduced different ideas to increase the number of hotel rooms, which included converting the vacated government buildings into hotels, partnering with the government to build hotels on state-owned land, as well as investing in tourism in the Red Sea region. They also expressed the challenges in the tourism sector, such as the need for more financing and the need to unify fees imposed by government agencies. Madbouly said the government is confident the country will be able to achieve its goal of attracting 30 million tourists by 2025. Ahmed Eissa, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Ahmed El Wasif, President of the Egyptian Federation of Tourist Chambers, and several other tourism officials all attended the meeting.
